Hungry Owl - Go Home
Last Sunday afternoon, Olivine decided to write and record her first EP. The result is a six-song, five-minute gem. It’s by turns both ethereal and grounded, a sort of song cycle that begins at “Sunrise” and drifts off into a sleepy dream world in “Follow and Jump.” I love “Drinker’s Dilemma,” which captures perfectly the feeling of a lopsided morning after, and this track, “Go Home,” which takes a simple lyric and makes it both beautiful and catchy as hell. You can hear Olivine’s influences (Smog, with a healthy dose of folk and low-fi), but she doesn’t show them off. This is simple, intimate, not precious—a solid start to what I hope becomes something great. You can (and should) preview or download the Travelling Man EP.
If only we could all be so productive. Nice work, dear.
SERIOUSLY WORTH A THOUSAND WORMS.
